Product series: New Balance
William J. Riley founded New Balance in 1906. Initially, the company focused on improving the fit and balance of shoes and was primarily used by police officers, firefighters, and other professionals who worked standing for long shifts.
In 1960, the Trackster training shoe was introduced, the first running shoe with a rippled sole and which was launched in different widths.
The 990 and 576 models were launched in 1982 – a major turning point for functional training shoes – and ever since, New Balance has continued to refine the performance of today's running shoes with an archive of iconic models from the 1980s and 90s.
