Barbour

John Barbour began in 1894 in the coastal town of South Shields to manufacture functional clothing for the Scottish moors to enable them to cope with the work along the cold and windy coasts . Johan Barbour was inspired by the hard-wearing clothes of North Sea fishermen, sewn from sailcloth and dipped in oil.
